Linear Mapping, 2015 (installation work)

Textile, porcelain, found materials, stitch, natural dye, construction, cyanotype

‘Linear Mapping’ is an installation of ‘threads’ or strands suspended from the ceiling. Each of the threads is a record of a walk, a linear map, a record of time and place.

‘The installation captures a series of walks taking place over a period of several months and in two different areas; the Aire Valley, near my home in Cottingley, West Yorkshire and Great Missenden, Bucks (where I grew up). Both are areas I know well and share similar beech woodlands. They also have significant differences and are loaded with personal and emotional resonances for me.’

‘Linear Mapping’ was shown as part of Pinpoint II (2015) at One Church Street Gallery, Great Missenden, Bucks and subsequently at the artist’s studio during Saltaire Arts Trail 2015.
